UMUC Guam Commencement Will Take Place on May 12
The University of Maryland University College (UMUC) Guam Commencement ceremony on May 12 will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Hilton Guam Resort & Spa, Tumon, Guam. Guest seating will begin at 11 a.m., but graduates and participants are asked to arrive no later than 9:30 a.m.
The ceremony will include a keynote address by Rushern L. Baker, III, county executive for Prince George's County, Maryland. Baker started his political career in the Maryland House of Delegates in 1994. Since his election to county executive in 2010, Baker has worked closely with other state and regional leaders to pursue positive change, focusing on creating jobs, growing the economy, and improving public safety and education in the county. Throughout his career, Baker has earned a reputation for being a consensus builder, an honest professional, and a tough, well-respected leader.
James B. Cronin, UMUC vice president and director, Asia, will preside over the ceremony. Music will be provided by the Guam Territorial Band.
In addition to the ceremony, a post-commencement reception will be held at the same location, beginning about 12:30 p.m.
