Patisserie PariSco: A taste of Europe on Guam

For Patisserie PariSco owner Shizuka Louboutin, baking is her passion.

“I choose to create beautiful pastries because it simply makes me and the people around me happy,” Louboutin says.

Louboutin grew up on Guam, having attended Harvest Christian Academy through 12th grade. Upon her graduation in 2006, the half-Japanese, half-Taiwanese owner studied her teenage hobby — photography — in San Francisco.

However, she later discovered her true passion: pastry arts.

“I found my passion for baking when I invited friends over to my studio for photography gatherings,” Louboutin said. “Whenever there were baked goods on the table, we all seemed to be extremely happy and had a good time.”

Louboutin studied basic pastry training in Japan before relocating to France. After all, who will dispute the elegant designs and mouthwatering tastes of French desserts? After two years in Europe, Louboutin decided to return back home.

“I started Patisserie PariSco because it was my dream to own a cute patisserie and to have our customers taste a bit of France without having to fly abroad,” Louboutin says.

Patisserie PariSco offers an assortment of fondant, buttercream, and mousse cakes. Located behind Oka Payless, the bakery is famously known for their cute macaroons, fancy tarts and refreshing beverages.

“I think Patisserie PariSco is different from other bakeries because we taste quality in our desserts and we use quality ingredients,” Louboutin said. “We make our desserts from scratch and we care about each production.”

When asked about her handcrafted designs, Louboutin remarked, “My inspiration comes from other unique bakers on social media around the world. I subscribe to magazines for tips and tricks, and Youtube really helps a lot when I’m looking for inspiration.” 

Likewise, Patisserie PariSco maintains a popular presence on Facebook. The diverse customer network and positive customer ratings add testimony to their service on Guam.

“We basically enjoy ourselves at work,” Louboutin said. “If you are a regular, we remember what you like and what you always order. Customers instantly become our friends.”

And customers have more than just good service as a reason to visit the bakery. Among the many things they offer, the business soon expects to created customized cakes for weddings and special occasions.

So the next time you visit Patisserie PariSco, order their signature “Temptation Cake.” As you take a small bite of the dark chocolate mousse cake, let yourself be swept away to France from an island in the middle of the Pacific.
