Recipe: Roasting beef with chocolate twist

A roast with chocolate? Yes, you read that right. This recipe is one your family and friends won't stop talking about! Oh, and it's delicious too!

INGREDIENTS

~3lb roast
1 cup dry red wine
2 tbsp brown sugar
¼ cup vinegar
3 bay leaves
¼ cup cocoa powder
2 tbsp instant coffee
1 tbsp Chili powder
2 tsp cayenne
3 tbsp oregano
2 tbsp thyme
1 tbsp rosemary
5 garlic cloves crushed
3 tbsp onion powder
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp pepper
2 tbsp salt
¼ cup soy sauce
½ cup water
2 tbsp butter

DIRECTIONS

  1. Heat large skillet on medium-high with 3 tbsp high temp oil (vegetable or canola).
  2. Sear the meat on all sides for 3 minutes each then take it off the heat and rest for 10 minutes.
  3. Combine dry ingredients and coat the roast then place the meat in a slow cooker or large oven-safe roasting pot/pan.
  4. Add wet ingredients with the roast and cook for 6-10 hours in a slow cooker on a low-temperature setting or in an oven at 275 degrees.
  5. Remove bay leaves and garlic then serve.
  6. Enjoy!
