Boonie Stomps: July 22 & 29, Aug. 5, 12, 19 & 26

Every Saturday, Guam Boonie Stompers offers public hikes to a variety of destinations such as beaches, snorkeling sites, waterfalls, mountains, caves, latte sites, and World War II sites. We meet at 9:00 AM in the Center Court of Chamorro Village in Hagatna. The cost is $2.00 for hikers over 12. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Hikers should provide their own transportation. Guam’s trails are not developed. Weather conditions can make the hikes more difficult than described. No reservations required. Ylig to Taga’chang
Easy
3 hours for 1 mile
We explore the reefs of eastern Guam, jumping and swimming at Turtle Rock, walking the bubble areas, snorkeling in the reef cracks and pools, enjoying the blow hole, and swiming at Taga’chang. Bring: 2 quarts water, get wet shoes, swimsuit, gloves, sun screen, sunglasses, lunch, and camera.      
Special conditions: Walking in water, a short stretch of rough rocks, and possible surf.

Tinta, Faha, and Priest’s Pools
Medium
3 hours for 2 miles
We hike to the two Merizo Massacre Sites of World War II and then cool off in the freshwater pools of the Pigua River with waterfalls, jumping, and swimming..      
Bring: 2 quarts water, gloves, swim suit, sun screen, sunglasses, insect repellent, lunch, and camera.      
Special condition: possible muddy trail, mosquitoes.

Inarajan Falls
Difficult
4 hours for 5 miles
We hike over the hills of southeastern Guam to one of the best waterfalls in the Western Pacific. Climbing down to the bottom of the falls by rope leads to waterfall showers and swimming spots.     Bring: 3 quarts water, hiking boots, swimsuit, gloves, sun screen, sunglasses, insect repellent, lunch, and camera.    
Special conditions: Long walking in sun through open, hilly terrain, climbing a steep slope with a rope, some mud.

Tarzan Falls/Cross Island         
Medium/Very Difficult    
7 hours for 9 miles
A great medium rated family hike to Tarzan Falls, with three separate falls including swimming and jumping . The adventurous can continue on the very difficult cross island hike to Lower Sigua Falls and Mt. Alutom.    '
Bring: 4 quarts water, good hiking shoes, swimsuit, gloves, sun screen, insect repellent, lunch, and camera.    
Special conditions: Sword grass, steep slopes, river walking, a very long hike.

3 hours for 2 miles
We descend 256 steps to a rugged coastline of northeastern Guam, then walk over the reef and around the sea cliffs to a giant sea cave, and snorkel if the water is calm.    
Bring: 3 quarts water, hiking boots, gloves, swim suit, snorkel gear, sunglasses, sun screen, insect repellent, lunch, and camera.    
Special conditions: Walking on rough rocks, in the water, and possible surf.
 
Aug  26     
Mt. Finansanta/Geus River       
VERY Difficult               
7 hours for 5 miles
Our hardest hike, three difficult hikes strung together. We visit 2 mountains with fantastic views, a pristine jungle river, and a narrow gorge with swimming, jumping, and rock sliding spots.    
Bring: 4 quarts water, strong shoes, gloves, sun screen, insect repellent, lunch and snacks, and camera.    
Special conditions: Sword grass, steep slopes, walking in water, slippery rocks, more sword grass.

Stomp tips:
1) Alcohol and hiking do not mix.
2) Do not bring beverages with caffeine on hikes.
3) Bring plenty of water with you on hikes.
4) Do not hike alone and let someone know where you are going and your return time.
