ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- Seaman Angel Otano is a standard bearer at Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25. His duties include completing maintenance inspections to ensure pilots and aircrew are flying in safe aircraft.

  • Otano is a standard bearer at HSC-25. His duties include completing maintenance inspections to ensure pilots and aircrew are flying in safe aircraft.
  • His supervisor said that he always takes on difficult tasks and completes them without losing motivation.
  • Otano was recognized for recently discovering a critical defect in an aircraft fuel ballistic ring while doing a by-the-book inspection. By finding the defect, Otano prevented the potential loss of aircraft and aircrew.
  • Otano, a Chicago native, enjoys watching the Chicago Bears.
