U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Jacob Hunter, a radio supervisor from Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines sets up communications during a mechanized raid as part of Exercise Valiant Shield at the Naval Base Guam Reserve Landing Craft Beach, Sept. 20, 2016.

In order to gain operationally significant terrain, Marines stormed the beach for follow on operations as part of island seizure for the exercise. VS16 is a U.S.-only, biennial field training exercise focused on integration of joint training in a blue-water environment among U.S. forces.
