ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam  -- If Airmen are bored and stuck in their room looking for something to do or somewhere to go after work to hangout and relax, the Hot Spot may be the place for them.

"The Hot Spot is a place to relax, use the Internet, watch movies and play video games in a stress-free environment," said Robert Neuman, 36th Force Support Squadron supervisory recreation specialist.

A staff of four recreation specialists run the Hot Spot every day from 1-8 p.m. In addition to aiding 30-50 visitors each day, the staff prepares activity calendars, maintains attendance records and provides information concerning future activities and special events.

Located in Bldg. 25005 next to the bowling center, the Hot Spot offers two sections, Airmen's center and community center, for patrons to enjoy their time at Andersen Air Force Base and Guam.

Airmen can surf the Internet with the free use of computers and Wi-Fi or they can watch some of their favorite films in the theater lounge area located in the Airmen's center section.

The center also has pingpong tables, pool tables, video game systems and a music room for avid musicians.

"(The Hot Spot) is a fun place I can go after work to relax and hang out with some friends and play video games," said Airman 1st Class Justin Smith, 554th RED HORSE pavement and heavy equipment operator.

The community center section hosts monthly flea markets, instructional classes, base-wide events and party room reservations and is open to all people with base access.

"Our goal is to provide an attractive, well-maintained environment for Airmen, families, retirees and Department of Defense civilians," Neuman said.

Upcoming free scheduled events include a Chamorro Village trip June 17 at 5:30 p.m., outdoor movie night at Arc Light Memorial Park June 13 at 6 p.m. and a flea market June 20 from 8-11 a.m.
