Kiko’s Adventure on the Magic Flying Proa to be launched on Nov. 25

21 November 2017 — (Hagåtña, Guam) The Guam Museum is pleased to feature the launch of “Kiko’s Adventure on the Magic Flying Proa,” a children’s storybook written by CHamoru author and scholar, Dr. Laura Torres Souder and her nephew Frank Thomas “Kiko” Freitas Guzman. The book follows Kiko and his Auntie Lo as she teaches him about the ancient CHamoru village at Gokña (Nikko Hotel and Gun Beach area), and as he embarks on an adventure on a magic flying proa and back into the time of the ancient CHamorus who lived there. The storybook attempts to introduce children to the way of life, architecture, and navigation traditions of CHamorus during the Latte period.  
 
“Kiko’s Adventure on the Magic Flying Proa” will be sold at the museum during the launch on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Museum Multi-purpose Room and thereafter at the Guam Museum Gift Shop. The launch will also feature readings by Dr. Souder at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. For more information, contact the museum at 989-4455 or visit www.guammuseum.org.
