Marianas fishing derby set for Aug. 16

Don’t miss the 19th Annual Guam Marianas International Fishing Derby on Aug. 16 from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Aug. 17, 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Agat and Hagatna Marina derby stations.

Hosted by Guam Fishermen’s Cooperative Association, the event features five categories of fish: billfish (marlin, sailfish, broadbill, swordfish and spearfish); yellow-fin tuna (including big-eye); wahoo; mahi mahi (a.k.a. dolphin fish or dorado) and bonita (a.k.a. skipjack tuna).

The Captains Meeting will be Aug. 10, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. immediately after the Gupot Y Peskadot (Fisherman’s Festival) to go over the rules and regulations.
