United announces second daily service between Guam and Nagoya

GUAM, July 1, 2019 – United Airlines announced today that effective Oct. 28, 2019, United will increase its current four-times-weekly evening flight (UA171/172) between Guam and Nagoya, Japan which operated on Sun., Tues., Thurs. and Sat., to a daily flight aboard a Boeing 737 aircraft. The additional capacity will provide customers with a twice-daily service between Guam and Nagoya. With this addition, United adds 500 more seats weekly each way or 26,000 seats annually on the route. Tickets are now available for purchase.

“United is committed to continuing to invest in the Japan market for Guam, and we are excited to add capacity between Guam and Nagoya to make its service twice-daily to meet its increasing demand,” said Sam Shinohara, United managing director for Airport Operations for the Asia/Pacific. “United is deeply committed to the Guam market, where we have been operating for more than 50 years and we have been closely working with stakeholders to increase demand for travel between Japan and Guam. Added seat capacity in this market is a great sign that business is strengthening, which is positive news for Guam’s tourism industry.”

Earlier this year United has announced that it would reintroduce the Boeing 777-200 aircraft on two of three daily flights between Guam and Tokyo’s Narita International Airport beginning August 1, 2019 though the end of the Winter Season on March 30, 2020. The reintroduction of the B777s during this period will offer customers nearly 900 daily seats each way between Tokyo and Guam.  
United has also announced another flight change for Guam. Effective Oct. 27, 2019, United will discontinue its four-times-weekly Guam-Hong Kong service and will offer daily connections to Hong Kong via Tokyo/Narita, Japan. United is contacting customers booked on Guam-Hong Kong flights departing after Oct. 26 to offer alternative arrangements.
