SANTA RITA, Guam (Jan. 30, 2018) – Aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) is scheduled to make a visit to U.S. Naval Base Guam, Jan. 31, marking the ship’s first port call during a Western Pacific deployment in 2018.

Led by Commanding Officer Capt. Douglas Verissimo, Vinson is the flagship for Carrier Strike Group 1. The strike group previously visited Guam while operating in the region last February.

On Jan. 5, the carrier departed San Diego with an air wing complement of more than 70 aircraft.

Commissioned in 1982, Vinson is America’s third Nimitz-class aircraft carrier.
