Tamuning, Guam (January 11, 2021) – DOCOMO PACIFIC, regional leader in innovation, telecommunications, & entertainment, will receive funds through the Rural Development Opportunity Fund (“RDOF”) to increase connectivity in the Northern Mariana Islands.
The Federal Communications Commission recently auctioned $9.2 billion of funding nationwide for high-speed (at least 25 Mbps) broadband rollout in rural areas that are unserved by voice and broadband. Among the winning bidders of RDOF funds, DOCOMO PACIFIC will receive a small share of the nationwide funding in installments over the next ten years to improve connectivity in Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.
The past year has made clear that having a strong, reliable Internet connection is essential for working from home, distance learning, and safely connecting to our families. DOCOMO PACIFIC is deeply invested in the communities we serve and actively seeks opportunities to help improve coverage and quality in all areas of the Marianas.
Stay tuned for more updates.
