Guam, 20 September 2022 – Dusit Guam employees dedicated another early weekend morning to reviving a local park nearby the Port Authority of Guam, this time by planting 80 saplings in Port Beach in Piti.

The Department of Agriculture’s Forestry & Soil Resources Division partnered with the Biosecurity Division and collaborated with the Port Authority of Guam to carefully select an area in need of crucial revival to combat erosion, invasive pests and diseases. In addition to create a livable habitat for birds and other native terrestrial species.

With guidance from Department of Agriculture, participants planted fruit trees in the upper courtyard to welcome visitors at the entrance. Native trees were planted in the lower courtyard which is prone to flooding problems and beach species were planted towards the shoreline to mitigate the ongoing erosion.

Dusit Guam’s Employee Engagement Committee continues to plan local outreach projects benefitting the communities and the tourism industry.
