(Fadian, Mangilao) – The Guam Power Authority (GPA) announced today that as part of its annual Public Power Week (PPW) celebration, it has collected more than 2,800 food items for The Salvation Army to benefit island families in need and more than 600 toys for Alee Shelter Guam’s children. GPA employees hosted the month-long canned food drive and toy drive from September 18 to October 18, 2024 to help The Salvation Army stock up their food pantries, and this year, GPA added a special toy drive to make the holiday season brighter for Guam’s children.

GPA General Manager John M. Benavente, P.E. said, “As part of our annual celebration as Guam’s public power agency, our team continues its tradition of serving the community through much-needed food and toy drives to benefit our island’s families and children in need. I applaud and commend the more than 400 employees of GPA for organizing this year’s Public Power Outreach and for their commitment to serve our local community.”
GM Benavente added, “On behalf of the CCU and GPA’s Management team, we thank GPA employees, Guam Waterworks Authority (GWA) management & employees, our energy partners, and our customers for joining us in the 2024 community-focused outreach to benefit our community. We are proud of this year’s results, which were made possible by their incredible teamwork.”
