Tamuning, Guam, Monday, May 16, 2022- May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and GTA is celebrating various activities throughout the month. The local telecom company joins the Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center as a sponsor and supporter of the '8 for Mental Health'- 8 events to raise funds and awareness for mental health programs in Guam. GTA is an advocate of Mental Health Awareness and was also a recipient of the GBHWC Goodwill Ambassador Award in 2021.
Michele Catahay Perez, Community Relations Manager at GTA, says, "Mental Health Awareness Month provides a timely reminder that focusing on our mental health is essential and that those living with mental health challenges are deserving of care, understanding, and compassion. Today, we are reminded to check in on our feelings and show compassion for each other in our community."
On Friday, May 6, GTA joined the Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center at the Child Mental Health Awareness Fair held at the Ypao Beach Park in Tumon. Through the company's Team Up for Guam Employee Volunteer Program, volunteers created a coloring and artboard for the kids.
The GTA Customer Experience Operations Team planned a Mental Health Spirit Week (May 9 - 13). Employees exchanged words of affirmation to let each other know that their mental health matters and they matter, too.
