(Tamuning, Guam) Wednesday, April 9, 2025 – GTA is proud to announce that Chief Financial Officer Joseph Shinohara has been honored with an ESGR “My Boss is a Patriot” Award by the Guam-CNMI Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office which was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment. One of the components of the program is to recognize leaders who go above and beyond in supporting employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.
Shinohara was nominated by Captain Zach Damian, GTA’s Legal Counsel and a JAG Officer in the Guam Army National Guard. The award was presented on Friday, April 4 at GTA Headquarters in Upper Tumon, with Guam-CNMI ESGR volunteers and GTA executives in attendance.

“Supporting our military community is more than a responsibility—it’s a privilege,” said Roland Certeza, GTA President and CEO. “Joe’s recognition reflects our company’s values and deep commitment to the people of Guam.”
As a locally rooted company with nearly 500 employees, GTA remains dedicated to fostering a workplace that supports service members and their families, recognizing the vital role they play in our island community.
Josephine Blas, a Guam-CNMI ESGR Committee Member and Awards Coordinator, praised Shinohara’s leadership: “He truly exemplifies the spirit of patriotism and the kind of support that makes a lasting difference in the lives of those who serve in the National Guard and Reserves.”
GTA remains committed to being a leader in military support in the workplace, fostering strong partnerships, and advancing policies that recognize and honor the service of its employees. The company will continue to stand alongside those who serve Guam and the nation—on the job and beyond.
