Tamuning, Guam, August 2, 2021 – GTA employees held an internal donation drive to benefit local foster family organization, Harvest House. The 3-week donation drive in July collected 1,083 items from GTA’s workforce and their families. These donations, which include clothing, toiletries, and even a baby walker, will benefit foster children in their transition into new homes.

According to the nonprofit, there are more than 450 foster children on Guam that need the support of the community. “When a foster child enters a foster home, they come with only what is on their backs. Foster families find it a great struggle to quickly get what the child needs, and it is a financial strain to buy an entire wardrobe and necessities for a child.”

Members of GTA’s team found Harvest House’s calls for help on social media and quickly mobilized to form this donation drive. “Supporting the community is a big part of our workplace culture. ‘We start with you’ is not just our slogan, we believe we truly thrive when our community is thriving too,” says Michele Catahay Perez, GTA’s Community Relations Manager. “The contributions of Harvest House and the entire foster community on Guam is indeed inspiring. This drive has been a worthwhile and meaningful project for all our team members.”

Harvest House’s Executive Director, Bethany Taylor, said, “I was thrilled to see the GTA employees rally around the foster community today by donating essentials, clothes, and fun baby items. You can tell they have a sincere desire to bring smiles to children who have lost so much. We absolutely love GTA’s partnership in bringing joy even in the hardest of times.” The nonprofit is actively accepting donations of school supplies for the upcoming school year. Donations can be delivered to their office in Toto until August 6.
