The Guam Power Authority (GPA) welcomed the visiting crew from the Pohnpei Utilities Corporation (PUC) on June 10 & 11, 2023, who traveled to Guam to support post-Typhoon Mawar recovery efforts to restore islandwide power. The crew of seven (7) linemen and one (1) deputy Chief of Power Distribution are assigned to work alongside GPA’s T&D linemen and visiting crews from the Commonwealth Utility Corporation (CUC) in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and Snohomish PUD Washington.

GPA General Manager John M. Benavente, P.E. said, “GPA welcomes and thanks our partners from the PUC who have committed to helping us restore Guam’s islandwide power system. The PUC crew has been assigned to work with the crews dispatched throughout the island to restore as many households and businesses as possible.”

GPA GM Benavente added, “We thank our crews who continue to work around the clock to restore power in the north, south, and central parts of the island. This week, the teams continue to focus on Phase II recovery effort, restoring the maximum number of customers with minimal typhoon damage. We thank our customers for their patience.”

GPA plans to be in Phase III by next week to restore power to those pocket areas that have sustained extensive damages. As a customer, you are not forgotten.

The crews will return to make the repairs. Our priority is to restore energy back into your homes and businesses; and restore the island-wide power system online at full capacity.

GPA shares detailed power updates daily through local news sources, its website guampowerauthority.com, and its Facebook and Instagram pages (@guampowerauthority).
