Cook smart and age well UOG Extension workshop series returns in April

A six-session workshop series focused on embracing aging and cooking healthy meals will be returning to the University of Guam in April. Back by popular demand for its third iteration, the series combines the curriculum of the Nihi ta Fanmama’tinas (Let’s Cook) and the Keys to Embracing Healthy Aging programs taught by University of Guam Cooperative Extension & Outreach.
The classes will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 15 to May 1 on the UOG campus.
Led by family and consumer science extension associates Clarissa Barcinas and Elaine De Leon and human services specialist Dr. Tim de La Cruz, each class will cover a cooking topic and a topic on healthy aging according to the following schedule:

Wellness Topic: Positive Attitude and Eating Smart
Thursday, April 17
Cooking Theme: Let’s Bake!
Wellness Topic: Physical Activity and Brain Activity
Tuesday, April 22

Wellness Topic: Social Activity and Tuning into the Times
Thursday, April 24
Cooking Theme: Let’s Cook on a Budget
Wellness Topic: Practice Being Safe and Know Your Health Numbers
Tuesday, April 29
Cooking Theme: Let’s Cook Breakfast!
Wellness Topic: Stress Management and Financial Affairs
Thursday, May 1
Cooking Theme: Let’s Cook Local!
Wellness Topic: Sleep and Taking Time for You

Each session has a registration fee of $10, which covers workshop materials and food samples. Participants are encouraged to sign up for all six sessions.
