(Tamuning, Guam) Thursday, August 24, 2023 – GTA, Guam's a leading telecom company, is proud to announce its partnership with the University of Guam's Triton Esports Team. As part of its ongoing commitment to fostering innovation and supporting education, GTA has donated $5,000 to the university's esports program, enhancing opportunities for students to excel in the realm of competitive gaming.
Esports has emerged, attracting players and spectators on a global scale. Recognizing the growing influence of esports in shaping the next generation of leaders and innovators, GTA has taken a proactive step in aligning with UOG to empower young talent and promote innovation.
By supporting the UOG Triton Esports Team, GTA aims to enable aspiring gamers to pursue their passion while fostering skills that extend beyond the gaming arena. This partnership signifies GTA's dedication to empowering students with the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
Ken San Nicolas, Triton Esports Manager, says, "I think the current state of Esports on Guam is that there's a lot of momentum on its development. In the last two years, we've seen a lot of exposure to Esports on the island at the elementary school level, the collegiate level here at UOG, and at the recreational level. I think it only grows, hopefully into a professional level. It takes a big sponsor to help build credibility, so I'm glad that GTA is a strong supporter of Triton Esports."
