The Isla Center for the Arts announces the opening of its senior art exhibition for fine arts and art majors at University of Guam. The exhibit, titled “Convalescence,” will open to the public tomorrow with an opening reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Isla Center for the Arts, House 15 in the Dean’s Circle on the UOG campus. It will remain open from May 12 to June 30.

The display features more than 70 works of art created by graduating seniors and reflects their time in isolation during the COVID-19 stay-at-home mandate. Some of the students said they used the time for reflection and introspection, which inspired them to create works of art that represent aspects of self-discovery. The exhibit features a 2021 UOG fine arts graduate and eight fine arts students — whose artwork includes digital prints, acrylic and watercolor paintings, and ceramic sculptures.

Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. The gallery’s hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, excluding holidays.
