The University of Guam Press is celebrating the release of the second volume of the Undergraduate Research Journal of Micronesia (URJM) with a virtual launch event at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023, via Zoom.
All are welcome to join the event at: https://zoom.us/j/93270681775.
URJM was first launched in 2017 and publishes scholarly writing from undergraduate students across Micronesia. Each paper focuses on a unique issue that surrounds the region and provides an opportunity for students’ research to enter a larger academic conversation.
While the first volume focused on multidisciplinary research, this second volume centers on perspectives from UOG’s Psychology Program, covering topics that include mental health, gender identity, and environmental responsibility. The volume was edited by UOG Instructor of English Teresita Perez, and Dr. Yoshito Kawabata, Professor of Psychology.
“The themes in this volume could provide insight to help readers make sense of global change,” said Perez in the volume’s introduction. “Themes […] were seemingly disparate, yet at the core of each study was underscored a curiosity about how the world shapes us and how we, in turn, shape the world—crucial questions to unpack and reflect on in the midst of a pandemic.”
UOG Press invites all members of the UOG community to join the virtual launch and be part of the conversation about the journal’s impact and the importance of publishing more scholarly works in the region.
URJM Volume II will be available for free online at https://url.uog.edu/XHYiJ5 starting May 4, 2023.
