Adults of all ages are invited to a six-session wellness class focused on embracing aging and cooking healthy meals. Back by popular demand from its June session, the class combines the curriculum of the Nihi ta Fanmama’tinas (Let’s Cook) and the Keys to Embracing Healthy Aging programs taught by University of Guam Cooperative Extension & Outreach.

The classes will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays from Aug. 7 to Aug. 24 in the Agriculture & Life Sciences Building, Room 125B, on the UOG campus.

Led by extension associates Clarissa Barcinas and Elaine de Leon, each class will cover a cooking topic and a topic on healthy aging according to the following schedule:

Wednesday, Aug. 7

  • Cooking Theme: Let’s Chesa!

  • Wellness Topic: Positive Attitude and Eating Smart

Saturday, Aug. 10

  • Cooking Theme: Let’s Bake!

  • Wellness Topic: Physical Activity and Brain Activity

Wednesday, Aug. 14

  • Cooking Theme: Let’s Make Soup and Salad!

  • Wellness Topic: Social Activity and Tuning into the Times

Saturday, Aug. 17

  • Cooking Theme: Let’s Cook on a Budget

  • Wellness Topic: Practice Being Safe and Know Your Health Numbers

Wednesday, Aug. 21

  • Cooking Theme: Let’s Cook Breakfast!

  • Wellness Topic: Stress Management and Financial Affairs

Saturday, Aug. 24

  • Cooking Theme: Let’s Cook Local!

  • Wellness Topic: Sleep and Taking Time for You

Each session has a registration fee of $10, and participants must register for all six sessions. The fee includes workshop materials and food samples.
