The nutrition team at University of Guam Cooperative Extension & Outreach invites the community to prioritize health for the holidays with an upcoming workshop on reducing added sugars. The workshop is part of the Nihi ta Fanmama’tinas (Let’s Cook)! workshop series led by registered dietitian nutritionist Dr. Tanisha Aflague and the Community Nutrition Education Program at UOG Extension.

Time: 9 a.m. – Noon

Date: Saturday, Dec. 16

Location: Agriculture & Life Sciences Bldg., Room 125B, University of Guam

Cost: $10

This workshop will teach participants why it’s important to reduce added sugars and how to modify the sugar content in favorite holiday food and drink recipes. It will also provide an opportunity to learn new low-sugar recipes, including pumpkin pie in a cup, whole-wheat rosketti, and an assortment of holiday beverages.

To register, contact Clarissa S.N. Barcinas at (671) 735-2029 or csnbarcinas@triton.uog.edu. A $10 registration fee covers course materials and food samples.

The Nihi ta Fanmama’tinas workshop series will continue into the new year, highlighting various other topics in nutrition. Follow UOG Cooperative Extension & Outreach on Facebook and Instagram for updates, or subscribe to the email list at www.uog.edu/extension/#Subscribe.
