Adults of all ages are invited to a six-session wellness class focused on embracing aging and cooking healthy meals. Back by popular demand from earlier this year, the series combines the curriculum of the Nihi ta Fanmama’tinas (Let’s Cook) and the Keys to Embracing Healthy Aging programs taught by University of Guam Cooperative Extension & Outreach.

The classes will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Jan. 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, and 17 in the Agriculture & Life Sciences Building, Room 125B, on the UOG campus.

Led by extension associates Clarissa Barcinas, Katrina Macasaquit, and Iesha Ibanez and family and consumer science specialist Dr. Tim de La Cruz, each class will cover a cooking topic and a topic on healthy aging according to the following schedule:

Wednesday, Jan. 8

  • Cooking Theme: Let’s Bake!

  • Wellness Topic: Physical Activity and Brain Activity

Friday, Jan. 10

  • Cooking Theme: Let’s Make Soup and Salad!

  • Wellness Topic: Social Activity and Tuning into the Times

Monday, Jan. 13

  • Cooking Theme: Let’s Cook on a Budget

  • Wellness Topic: Practice Being Safe and Know Your Health Numbers

Wednesday, Jan. 15

  • Cooking Theme: Let’s Cook Breakfast!

  • Wellness Topic: Stress Management and Financial Affairs

Friday, Jan. 17

  • Cooking Theme: Let’s Cook Local!

  • Wellness Topic: Sleep and Taking Time for You

Each session has a registration fee of $10, which covers workshop materials and food samples. Participants are encouraged to sign up for all six sessions.
