As a COMSEC technician, Guisao configures crypto for Pacific Air Forces’ and Secretary of Defense directed joint and multinational operations and deploys in support of contingency Indo-Pacific Command missions. She maintains, issues and destroys COMSEC material to meet mission requirements supporting 36th Contingency Response Group taskings across the INDOPACOM area of responsibility. Guisao provides training and guidance for 119 combat communications personnel on COMSEC and handling in support of humanitarian aid and presidential support requirements. She also oversees the largest COMSEC program in the 36th CRG with continuous accounting of 256 crypto keys, codes and equipment.

Guisao completed her upgrade training in six months and has continuously been performing at a high level. She is directly responsible for managing and maintaining 644th CBCS COMSEC program where she has since identified 13 major faults, protecting $9.6 million of cryptographic assets. Additionally, she took the lead in creating five cryptographic kits to support presidential movement across the Indo-Pacific theater leading to successful command and control of personnel and equipment. Furthermore, she dedicated her time and service on and off base by supporting 16 hours with Federal Emergency Management Agency after Typhoon Mawar delivering $16 million in relief supplies, 21 hours at Guam’s only animal shelter and assisted in countless booster club events. Finally, she completed four classes towards her Community College of the Air Force degree in information technology.

“I joined the Air Force because I wanted stability and a career,” said Guisao. “I like that I am able to do school and learn a lot more than just my job. A lot of other Air Force specialty codes are in my office so I can learn radio or infrastructure and I can work on my certifications.”

Guisao was selected as a distinguished graduate from an eight-day base honor guard course. She also completed a one-week expeditionary fundamentals communications course going outside her AFSC and broadening her communication technical expertise, becoming a multi-capable Airman that is required. Since becoming part of the unit, she has provided on-time quality work and results. Her work ethic coupled with her unit and base involvement continue to set the tone.

“It’s important to work hard and lead by example because people always follow suit,” said Guisao. “In a work environment, if someone notices somebody working hard it sparks motivation in other people.”

The term Linebacker is rooted deep within Team Andersen’s history. Operation Linebacker II took place on Dec. 18, 1972, and was the largest number of heavy bomber strikes launched by the U.S. Air Force since the end of World War II. During the operation, B-52s from Andersen flew round-the-clock bombing missions over North Vietnam to destroy major targets in Hanoi and Haiphong in an effort to bring the Democratic Republic of Vietnam back to negotiations.

The recipient will have the opportunity to sign a “Linebacker” football jersey that will be displayed in the Wing Headquarters building.

Way to go, Guisao!
