The Japan Club of Guam will host the 42nd Annual Japanese Autumn festival that will be held at Governor Joseph Flores Beach Park (Ypao Beach Park) on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

Akimatsuiri is a traditional Japanese Festival to welcome the arrival of autumn and was first introduced to Guam by The Japan Club of Guam in 1977. Festival goers will experience a rare glimpse into Japanese culture through a variety of fun activities such as traditional Bon-odori dancing, Mikoshi (portable shrines), Kingyo-sukui (Catching goldfish), Japanese cultural food (yakisoba noodles, yakitori skewered chicken, okonomiyaki savory Japanese pancake, varies desserts, sake, and beer) as well as the opportunity to savor traditional Japanese dishes prepared by the Japan Chefs Association. Among them, “Maguro-Kaitai Show”, the tuna carving show, attracts many people every year for its dynamic handling by Chef Nakamura, executive chef of Joinus Restaurant Keyaki. This year, the Japanese Club of Guam expects even more performers and food vendors.

Free entertainment will be provided for the event and attendees will get an opportunity to participate in cultural dances and observe Japanese folk dancing. There will be games and activities for all ages.

The Akimatsuri Japanese Autumn Festival has continued to gain momentum every year since its inception. After a 2-year hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic, the festival resumed in 2022. 42K Guam residents and tourists enjoyed last year’s event. As the slogan “Guam Reboot 2022” stated, last year’s festival was a big success that brought excitement and big smiles to the community.

Free admission and free shuttle service will be available for the event. Event goers will be able to purchase booklets of tickets for various activities.
