(Tumon, Guam – Dec. 27, 2024) The Tsubaki Tower, part of the P.H.R. Ken Micronesia, Inc. hotel group, announced today that the Casa Oceano fundraiser to support the Tourism Education Council’s WAVE Club yielded $8,000 in donations to support tourism education. Throughout November 2024, The Tsubaki Tower committed to donating proceeds for every guest who dined at Casa Oceano, the resort’s all-day dining restaurant. The WAVE Club is a nonprofit school-based program for public and private school students in the third to twelfth grades to promote the importance of tourism on Guam.
Ken Yanagisawa, President and CEO for P.H.R. Ken Micronesia and the General Manager for The Tsubaki Tower, shared that Heidi Ballendorf, Executive Director for the Tourism Education Council, reached out for a sponsorship for an activity, and they discussed how they can creatively work together to raise funds for the WAVE Club.
Pres. Yanagisawa said, “We believe in the important mission of the TEC to educate our students about the significance of Guam’s top industry – tourism – and how a strong tourism economy benefits our community. With thanks to our Casa Oceano guests, we were able to raise $8,000 to support the WAVE Club’s ongoing work in the island’s schools.”
Ballendorf added, “We are deeply appreciative of this support from The Tsubaki Tower team. It means a great deal to our 400-plus students and 25 teachers. WAVE stands for ‘Welcome All Visitors Enthusiastically’ and emphasizes what makes Guam a unique destination, which is our people, culture, history, environment, language, and even our food. We so appreciate our partnership with The Tsubaki Tower, and we hope it will continue in the future.”
