Hagåtña, Guam — The Guam Legislature, in collaboration with the Office of the Governor, Judiciary of Guam, District Court of Guam, Mayor’s Council of Guam, Congressional Office, the Guam Preservation Trust, and numerous community partners, proudly presents “History Comes Alive – Luma’la i Estoria-ta,” a historic celebration marking the 75th Anniversary of the Organic Act of Guam.

On Friday, August 1, 2025 the event will kick off with a full day of activities across Hagåtña. The schedule includes:

• 8:00 AM: Flag Raising Ceremony at the Governor’s Complex in Adelup

• 9:30 AM: Naturalization Ceremony at the Guam Congress Building

• 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM: Exhibits at the Guam Congress Building, Guam Museum

• 12:45 PM – 8:00 PM: History Comes Alive Festival at Plaza de España (n Hagatna) featuring proclamations, live entertainment, educational exhibits, cultural performances, and food vendors

• Note: On Tuesday’s and Thursday’s during the month of July the Guam Historic Courthouse is offering tours contact comms@guamcourts.gov for more information. Come and see Hagatna’s best kept secret

The celebration also features special acknowledgments to the descendants of Guam’s political pioneers: Carlos P. Taitano, Baltazar J. Bordallo, F.B. Leon Guerrero, Antonio B. WonPat, and Concepcion Cruz Barrett.

“We invite the entire community to join us as we bring our history to life,” said Speaker Frank Blas Jr. “This is a moment to reflect on our journey, honor the past, and inspire the next generation of leaders.”
