(Fadian, Guam) – Guam Power Authority announced today that it received and processed about $5.27 million in funding from the Department of Administration (DOA) and globally applied the fifth increment of the $100 energy credit, the last increment of the $500 Prugråman Ayuda Para I Taotao-ta Energy Credit extension. The credit was applied to all active GPA accounts on April 25, 2023, and is reflected in the April billing.

“The $100 credit and the extension have brought much-needed relief to all our customers these past 10 months, and GPA thanks Gov. Leon Guerrero and her administration and the Senators of the Guam Legislature for making this energy subsidy possible for the people of Guam,” said GPA General Manager John. M. Benavente, P.E. “GPA provided testimony to the 37th Guam Legislature in support of Bill 83, which proposes an additional extension of the $500 energy credit program. If the bill passes, customers will receive an additional subsidy through September.”

Residential and commercial customers will see the April credit listed on their power bill statements. GPA invites customers to utilize its new website, guampowerauthority.com, and mobile site to access their accounts, monitor consumption, and pay bills. Helpful energy-saving tips can also be found on GPA’s Facebook and Instagram pages (@guampowerauthority).

General Manager Benavente added, “As we await the status of Bill 83, we invite customers who need assistance now to apply for financial assistance programs currently available, such as the Department of Administration’s Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) Program and the federally funded Guam’s Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) Program. Our Customer Service team can be reached at (671) 647-5787 to assist and guide you on how to apply.”
