(Fadian, Guam) – Guam Power Authority announced today that it received and processed the $5.27 million in funding from the Department of Administration (DOA) and globally applied the fourth increment of the $100 energy credit to all active GPA accounts for the March billing cycle. The Prugråman Ayuda Para I Taotao-ta Energy Credit Program extended $500 in energy credits over five months, which started in December 2022 and is scheduled to be completed at the end of April 2023.

“The monthly credits have been a welcome relief for GPA’s customers, and we thank Gov. Leon Guerrero, her administration, and the Senators of the 37th Guam Legislature for making this utility subsidy possible,” said GPA General Manager John M. Benavente, P.E. “Our Customer Service team confirmed today that the fourth increment of the $100 utility credit has been successfully applied to all active GPA accounts. We encourage customers to log in to their online accounts to view the credit or manage their accounts.”

GPA reminds its customers to expect the fifth and final increment of the monthly $100 Prugråman Ayuda Para I Taotao-ta Energy Credit to be applied to the April 2023 bill. Residential and commercial customers will see the credit listed on their power bill statements and are encouraged to visit paygpa.com to monitor and manage their GPA accounts online.

General Manager Benavente added, “Customers needing financial assistance can take advantage of programs currently available, such as the Department of Administration’s Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) Program and the federally funded Guam’s Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) Program. Call our GPA Customer Service team at (671) 647-5787 to learn more and how to apply.”

About the $500 Credit Program Public Law 36-123, the extension to the Prugråman Ayuda Para I Taotao-ta Energy Credit Program, was passed by the 36th Guam Legislature on Dec. 16, 2022, and signed into law by Governor Lou Leon Guerrero on Dec. 17, 2022. The energy credit program provided an additional credit of $500 to all GPA residential and commercial customers to offset the LEAC (Levelized Energy Adjustment Clause) due to the unprecedented increase in world fuel prices. The monthly $100 credits will continue through April 2023. Customers can access the frequently asked questions here for more information about the program.
