Four agencies affirmed their commitment to protecting the island’s drinking water at the One Guam Water Resources Information Program (OGWRIP) Agreement Signing Ceremony held on Oct. 21 at the University of Guam.

Separate agreements were signed by the Naval Facilities (NAVFAC) Engineering Systems Command Marianas, the Guam Waterworks Authority (GWA), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), and the Water and Environmental Research Institute (WERI) of the Western Pacific at the University of Guam.

Under the agreements, WERI and USGS will provide GWA and NAVFAC with access to reliable data, critical research, timely analysis, research on critical topics, expert advice for water resource management, engineering, and policy decisions, and training and outreach to support the effective management of Guam’s drinking water resources over the next nine years.

“This landmark agreement and partnership between our local and federal governments will help to ensure the vitality and viability of our island’s drinking water resources supported by the research and expertise at WERI and USGS,” said UOG President Thomas W. Krise.
