The experts are visiting from Taiwanese universities in affiliation with University of Guam Cooperative Extension & Outreach. All events are free to attend.

Farmer-Focused Community Health Seminar

Who should attend: Farmers, ag workers, and Guam residents

This seminar will highlight how to prevent common health issues in Guam. Led by extension faculty of the UOG Farmer Focus Project and Prevent T2 diabetes education program in collaboration with visiting faculty from the National Taipei University of Nursing & Health Sciences, topics will include:

·        eating a balanced and nutritious diet

·        preventing diabetes and chronic diseases

·        coping with and preventing depression

·        exercises to combat age-related or diabetic-induced loss of muscle mass.

Expert Panel on Poultry & Livestock Production: Experiences & Strategies from Taiwan

Leading experts in animal science from National Chung Hsing University, Chinese Culture University, and Tunghai University will share valuable insight on poultry, waterfowl, and livestock production in Taiwan. They will share practical and successful strategies from Taiwan’s livestock industry that may help farmers and ranchers in Guam with the success of their operations. Topics will include:

·        poultry and waterfowl production

·        the profitability of raising caged vs. free-range chicken

·        management of livestock and poultry waste

·        cooling livestock dormitories.

Strategies for Sustainable Agriculture International Seminar
