(PITI, GUAM – August 12, 2025) – Since opening its doors in 1996, Fish Eye Marine Park has become a beloved landmark for both Guam residents and international visitors. Known for its one-of-a-kind Underwater Observatory, the park has offered countless guests the rare opportunity to explore Guam’s vibrant marine life without ever getting wet.
Nearly 30 years later, Fish Eye is preparing for a major milestone: the replacement of the eight viewing windows of the Underwater Observatory, marking the first refurbishment of its kind since the park’s inception. The window replacement will improve the visibility for guests and provide better viewing of the abundant sea life surrounding the observatory. The replacement project is scheduled to begin on September 1, 2025, with completion expected by September 14, in time for the Fish Eye Marine Park’s 30th Anniversary celebration.

“The Observatory has always been the heart of Fish Eye,” said Akihiro Tani, General Manager of Fish Eye Marine Park. “As we approach our 30th year, we want to ensure the experience remains just as magical as it was for our very first guests. This project is our way of honoring the past while investing in the future.”
Originally scheduled for early 2020, the refurbishment was delayed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. With operations now in full swing, Fish Eye is proud to move forward with this long-awaited project, which involves a highly technical and environmentally sensitive process.
“Replacing underwater glass at this scale takes precision, planning, and care,” shared Frank Benavente, Project Manager of Fish Eye Marine Park. “Each panel is custom fit and must be sealed to withstand underwater pressure all while ensuring minimal disruption to the marine ecosystem surrounding the observatory.”
Tani added, “The eight new windows will provide pristine views of Piti Bay’s thriving coral reef and marine life. We invite everyone to return when we reopen to experience our enhanced Underwater Observatory.”
The refurbishment also underscores Fish Eye’s ongoing commitment to excellence, both for Guam’s local community and the island’s growing tourism industry. As international travel continues to rebound, including strong interest from the Japan market, refreshed facilities like Fish Eye’s observatory reflect Guam’s readiness to welcome back visitors with world class experiences.
Beyond the observatory, Fish Eye offers a full range of activities that highlight Guam’s natural beauty and culture. Guests can enjoy the Island Cultural Dinner Show, snorkeling tours, dolphin and sunset cruises, and the Island Heritage & Coconut Experience making Fish Eye a must visit destination for all ages.
“We take pride in creating memorable experiences that showcase the best of Guam,” added Tani. “And with the observatory’s new windows, we’re giving our guests the clearest view yet of what makes this place so special.”
