Nearly four decades of community connection came full circle at Micronesia Mall on Saturday, August 9, 2025 as hundreds of families stopped by the Center Court for a spirited 37th anniversary celebration that transformed the shopping destination into a vibrant cultural festival.
From 11am to 3pm, attendees enjoyed a full schedule of performances, showcases, tenant sales and promotions, a sweet treat, and the excitement of prize drawings with over $3,500 in giveaways to attendees. The anniversary event was a celebration of the loyal customers, tenants, and broader community that have sustained the Mall for nearly four decades on Guam.
The festivities began with an impressive demonstration from Guam Taekwondo Center, itself marking 23 years of service to the community. The martial arts showcase gave way to a kaleidoscope of cultural expression as Natibu Dance Academy filled the Center Court with traditional dance that celebrated Guam’s rich heritage. Guam Dance Community continued the artistic momentum with three distinct contemporary performances, while the rock band Unrest brought the celebration to an energetic close with a live music performance that echoed throughout the concourses.
Between performances, families enjoyed complimentary Ko’ko’ Express rides around the Mall from noon to 3pm. Each hour, the fi rst 37 children received free trips on the Mall’s trackless train, accompanied by a chaperone who also rode at no cost. The number 37 appeared throughout the celebration, including in trivia contests that tested attendees’ knowledge of the Mall’s history and anniversary milestones.
The Center Court hosted pop-up sales and displays where eight Mall tenants off ered special anniversary deals. Bread Bar by Okayama Kobo, PlayworX, Cinnabon, Levi’s, Guess, Kitchen
Ten-Ten, Macy’s, and Docomo Pacifi c created a lively, festival-like atmosphere that invited shoppers to explore exclusive promotions while enjoying the day’s entertainment.
A special moment in the day’s festivities came when Congressman James C. Moylan presented Micronesia Mall with a Certifi cate of Congressional Recognition, honoring its 37 years as a cornerstone of Guam’s community and economy. Following the presentation, the Mall delighted the audience with a cake-cutting ceremony featuring a vibrant 37th Anniversary cake on stage, serving more than 100 slices to attendees.
Attendees enjoyed an array of prizes and giveaways including Foot Locker gift card prize packages ranging from $10 to $300, to MM Theatres movie tickets, branded Micronesia Mall merchandise, Burger King promotional packages, Mall shop and restaurant gift certifi cates, and promotional items that together created 100+ prizes spread across the celebration’s duration. The grand prize—a stunning pair of 14K Gold 1 Carat Solitaire Lab Grown Diamond Earrings valued at $599.99—was generously sponsored by Vince Jewelers and awarded to lucky winner Divina Enrico. Elizabeth Santos was also recognized as a grand prize recipient of $300 in Foot Locker gift cards courtesy of Micronesia Mall. Keeping with the theme, there were 3 winners of $70 in Foot Locker Gift Cards, 37 winners of $10 Foot Locker Gift Cards, and many more winners of $37 gift certifi cates and more from various Mall tenants.
The anniversary celebration extended beyond the single-day event through a “Then & Now” social media contest that invited community members to share their Mall memories across the decades. Contest winners received Foot Locker gift cards worth $100, $70, and $30, creating an additional layer of community engagement that honored the Mall’s deep roots in island life.
“We are grateful to everyone who joined us in celebrating this milestone. Since 1988, Micronesia Mall has been a destination for shopping, dining, entertainment, and more—a place where families, friends, and visitors come together to create lasting memories. This anniversary celebration was our way of giving back to the community that has supported us for nearly four decades, and we’re excited to bring even more fun events and promotions to our customers in 2025 and beyond!”
